I’ve been dreaming, for
the past year, of this amazing leather jacket. The perfect one that I could put
atop of a simple white t-shirt or even over a classic dress ( à la Sienna Miller).
Since, a couple of years, the leather jacket has become as essential in fashion
as the little black dress. What use to
be a practical piece is now an important fashion statement fueled by pop
culture and the evolution of trends.
We’ve known this outerwear design under the name of Perfecto. First for plane pilots, then for bikers and finally immortalized as the ultimate bad boy style by Hollywood’s superstar: Marlon Brando (The Wild One). Then came the Rebellion years and soon the Punk era of the 1970s erupted with its patch-covered leather jackets.

Today’s leather jacket features a slimmer, more tailored silhouette in line and we could see on the Spring 13 runways the fabulous new and improved version of it by Balmain, Saint-Laurent, Phillip Lim and McQueen. If you were to invest in one pricey outwear piece I would strongly recommend a classic and well fitted leather jacket.
