Among all the industries in the world, fashion
is one of the most progressive and definitely
one of the toughest. For years,
designers have religiously designed and delivered their collections
twice a year, in February and September.
Once submitted, the world's press and buyers could choose and decide on trends,
flops, successes, winners and losers for the coming seasons.
Over the last 4 or 5 years the roles are reversed and the speed of communication, imaging and information of high fashion and street fashion collections, can be found on our screens instantly. This gives an opportunity for designers to produce an additional collection to fill the gaps between those of Autumn / Winter and Spring / Summer.
I confess my weakness for these fashion collections that are "cruising" or "Resort" as they are often renamed. It was created for the ribbon panels of people who liked to spend their winter holidays in the sun, and could not find, during the cold months, the proper attire to buy. I always found this concept awesome. Maybe it's my fascination with the Hamptons, days at the beach, or just whether it is a direct allusion to the jet-set life of the rich and famous
