The "Resort" collections

Among all the industries in the world, fashion is one of the most progressive and definitely one of the toughest. For years, designers have religiously designed and delivered their collections twice a year, in February and September. Once submitted, the world's press and buyers could  choose and decide on trends, flops, successes, winners and losers for the coming seasons.

Over the last 4 or 5 years the roles are reversed and the speed of communication, imaging and information of high fashion and street fashion collections, can be found on our screens instantly. This gives an opportunity for designers to produce an additional collection to fill the gaps between those of  Autumn / Winter and Spring / Summer.

I confess my weakness for these fashion collections that are "cruising" or "Resort" as they are often renamed. It was created for the ribbon panels of people who liked to spend their winter holidays in the sun, and could not find, during the cold months, the proper attire to buy. I always found this  concept awesome. Maybe it's my fascination with the Hamptons, days at the beach, or just whether it is a direct allusion to the jet-set life of the rich and famous

Here are some of my favorite looks of the "cruise" collection 2014

Superga

Let's make this clear, running shoes are not the first shoes that come to mind when we think of Italy. The Ferragamo Vara's and the Prada loafers are the usual suspects. The fact remains that even the most fashion conscious Italians prefer, from time to time, comfortable and casual alternatives. It is exactly at this point that the Superga shoes come out of the shadows.

Superga canvas shoes have made their way from the hills of Turin since 1913. The first 2750 (iconic model) and vulcanized rubber sole was developed 12 years later. Here we use to Ked's with whom there is nothing overtly different from what the actual model did look like 30 years ago . The evidence is there and we can not deny that the Superga shoes speak another language. It may be the modestly small label with the manufacturer's name on it or the fact that, for most of us, the brand has remained largely unknown outside of his native Italy. The simplicity of the shoe, its no frills Italian  style - that gives it an irresistible look and an unexpected knack for this kind of shoe.

Perhaps their collaboration on the creation side in the past recent years with the Olsens tween, or Alexa Chung as the face of their new campaign or the latest model of the famous blogger Chiara Ferragni (all lace, released this weekend and absolutely divine) have all played a little role in the recent fame of the brand.

The model in white is definitely my favorite. As I stated more than once in my previous posts (and where my obsession with white is highlighted), nothing in this shade is made to last. Naturally, the knowledge and the Italian genius of Superga shoes have some features to absorb some impacts. The sole and rubber tip surely give us a little help. But the key to getting the most out of your new purchase is to stay on the paved roads this summer - camping and ketchup are not your best friends. Again, life has a special way of playing with perfection, for stains you just throw them in the washer machine. You can thank the famous fabric of the Italian mountains for that.

Go hop a pair of Superga to go with the Vespa ... why not! And you, what comfortable shoes will be part of your vacation this summer?

The White T-Shirt

1 - Go for quality

To everyone's preferences, but my thing is the fabric. Thicker and tighter material will probably retain its shape longer than a lighter one. Transparency, "Sheer" is really trendy right now, but it's really not forgiving when it comes to hiding a bump or a detail, so you may want to wear a cami underneath.

2 - The quantity is also important

Everyone should have more than one type of t-shirt in their drawers (from the form fitting one, to a looser version). Also do not forget to have a selection of different necklines (V-round, button, notched) which provides that edgy detail we're looking for  in each outfit. The beauty of the white t-shirt is its versatility: the more models you have on hand, the better your options will be to assemble your looks.

3 - Knowing where to shop

You mentally prepared a list of criteria for your perfect white t-shirt, but you don't know where to find that perfect specimen? For brands, I tend to go for James Perse & Splendid  which you can find at Holt Renfrew. There is also the Boutique Mimi & Coco and J. Crew who make excellent products. For good quality at a lower price I would suggest the Gap, Banana Republic, Zara and H&M.

4-Finally, know when to let go

White does not remain pristine forever. If you wear deodorant, you will surely get unsightly yellow markings which are not easy to remove. It is important to include the renewal of these in our seasonal budget. It also give us a chance to better follow and enjoy new trends.

And you, where do you get your basic items?

Grace Kelly & Lady Di

The next few months will be full of pictures and information for all the admirers of the royalty. It will finally be possible to see and know a little more about the life of two of the most famous and admired women in the world: Princess Grace of Monaco and Princess Diana. Naomi Watts in the role of Lady Di and Nicole Kidman in the one of Grace. It's been long since we had something so exciting to watch on the big screen.

Meanwhile, I'll keep my self busy and rewatch the Empress Sissi. You know...Just to get in the mood!

And you? What princess are you mostly inspired by?

Portrait of a Princess

An account of the last two years of the life of Lady Diana (ex-wife of Prince Charles, died 31 August 1997 in Paris).

Scheduled for release on October 2nd, 2013

 Grace of Monaco

The australian actress seems perfectly credible in this incarnation of Grace Kelly, who was the Princess of Monaco from 1956, her marriage to Prince Rainier III,  to her death in September 1982, when she died in a car accident. The film is currently filming and will be released to theaters in 2014.

Until the release of the film, you can visit the exhibition at the McCord Museum:
Philadelphia to Monaco: Grace Kelly - Beyond  the Icon
From June 6 to October 6, 2013

The Burberry Kiss

Have you ever sealed a letter with a kiss. Leaving our trace with a bit  of lipstick was a very romantic way to decorate an envelope. With the advent of cell phones, tablets and e-mails, this practice as been long gone. Personally, I miss this gesture and I regularly wish I could customize my texting. Thanks to innovative teams work as Burberry and Google, it is now possible.

We are talking about the recognition technology kiss (kiss) - yes, it's true - we can all have fun sending kisses with Burberry. With the capabilities of the standard touch screen of your computer, iPad or smart phone, you can just kiss the screen by following the instructions and voila! An exact replica of your pout is there, then you are free to customize the color using the Burberry lipstick  of your choice.

You will be able to send your kisses around the world. With an interactive map in real time, you can monitor the path of it to his or her destination.

A great success, moving and superbly creative, that kiss Burberry will certainly help us to spread a little more love around.

On another note, am I the only germaphobe who does not particularly desire to put my mouth on my cell phone
screen ? What do you think?

The Cronut

The Cronut (croissant / donut). This hybrid-donut is THE new frenzy in Manhattan. This pastry is available in limited quantities, the kitchen producing only 200-250 Cronuts each morning (three days are needed to complete the process). The line forms in front of the store at 6 am in the morning and several unfortunate often leave the place empty handed.

Isabel Marant

If you were on the surface or the earth (fashion one indeed) yesterday, you probably heard that H&M will team up with no other than Isabel Marant for its latest design collaboration. The collection will arrive in stores on November 14 of this year and will feature clothing and accessories for men (for the first time) and women.
Let me tell you that this union will definitely be, so far , the most popular one for the clothing chain.
At least I know it will be the case for me. Let's hope that we will be able to find affordable versions of her shoes, knits and jackets. www.isabelmarant.com

Until then you can always shop at:
